Heart Of Gold Helpers
To give neurodiverse young adults a place to feel accepted & supported while also encouraging decision making, dignity & respect through the following modalities: supported employment, volunteer opportunities & social engagement gatherings.
Supported Employment:
Paid opportunities at Pep Talk Packages that support each individual’s strengths & needs. As of now we are in the beginning stages of this program & will be researching, networking & seeking out grant money to concretize this vision.
Volunteer Opportunities:
We seek to offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that will empower our Helpers to support the needs of their communities while also building a sense of dignity & ability to contribute towards the greater good.
Such examples would include:
These examples are just a few of the ways in which we would strive to build social engagement, community outing skills, travel safety training, money skills & communication skills just to name a few.
Social Engagement Gatherings:
In an effort to create opportunities for socialization, we’d like to create a “Heart of Gold Hangout” Night that would take place the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at the Community Growth Center. Activities would include crafts, movie nights, board games, yoga & wellness programs, outdoor meditation, and whatever else might speak to the interests of the participants.
